Understanding Normal vs. Large Fibroid Sizes

A normal fibroid size isn’t a fixed medical standard because fibroids vary widely in size and many cause no symptoms. On average, uterine fibroids tend to fall in the medium range of about 5 cm to 10 cm in diameter, and this is often seen as a typical or average size. Fibroids smaller than this, from about 1 cm up to 5 cm, are commonly found and may not require treatment if they aren’t causing symptoms. Larger fibroids (above 10 cm) are less common and more likely to cause pressure or discomfort, but size alone doesn’t always determine whether a fibroid is problematic.
