Frost portrays Richard, the head of a family of four, as a funny and lovable father who adores his family. They need a vacation, too. The journey to the small and peaceful Swedish island of Svälta is mapped out by Richard, his wife Susan (Aisling Bea), son Sam (Sebastian Croft), and daughter Jessie (Maisie Ayres). A few rude Swedes won't ruin their family's vacation after mainlanders warn them to stay away from the island during the Karantan festival. The Karantan festival remembers Svalta's restriction of movement, which resulted in death and hunger. But it's only a play to the Smiths. When the family first arrives on the island, the commune is not only unfriendly but also aggressive. However, it appears that the clueless family doesn't give any thought to this. Despite the humorously flawed nature of the familial structure, the continual harassing and cruel words always seem to hit home as you see on Get Away Afdah.
